Agents penned 13,495 lambs with the quality ranging from plain to very good, however there was not the same weight offered this week. All the usual buying group attended in another strong market which saw price increases over most categories. There was good competition from local and export processes. Heavy trade and export lambs had the largest increases, with sales reaching over 1000c/kg cwt in multiple places. Overall, the market ended $10 to $20/head dearer.
Light trade lambs sold $5 to $10 better, medium trade weights sold to $10 dearer and heavy trade lambs were to $10 to $15/head stronger.Heavy and extra heavy export lambs sold extremely well to be $18 to $27 dearer, reaching a top of $340/head. Store buyers were not as active with few sales back to the paddock holding firm and selling from $74 to $190/head. Very light 1 and 2 score lambs to the processor to suit MK orders sold firm, making from $109 to $179/head.
Lambs to the trade weighing 18 to 22kg sold from $178 to $237, while the 22 to 24kg lambs sold to $252/head with an average range of935c to 990c/kg cwt. Lambs weighing 24 to 26kg sold from $230 to $272/head, to average 970c to 1000c/kg cwt. Heavy export score 4 lambs in the 26 to 30kg category, sold from $250 to $314, averaging 960c, while those over 30kg sold from $288 to $340/head, to average of 900cto 910c/kg cwt. Merino lightweight lambs under 18kg sold from $70 to $174 with those over 18kg making from $163 to $222/head.
Sheep numbers were similar at 3,569 head and the quality was plain to good. There was strong competition across the yarding from most processes with heavy sheep selling $10 to $15 dearer and light weights selling very well to be $10/head dearer in places. Heavy Merino wethers made from $192 to $252 with an average range of 720c to 800c/kg cwt, while the lighter weights sold from $89 to $170/head. HeavyMerino ewes sold from $181 to $243 to average 750c to 760c and extra heavy crossbred mutton made $199 to $278/head averaging 720c to740c/kg cwt. Rams sold to $65 for crossbreds and Merinos made to $210/head
