Yarding: 28,580
Lamb numbers remained similar with 19,210 penned, there were excellent runs of trade weight, heavy trade and extra heavy export lambs. Not all the usual buyers were present, but again there was extra store competition on the rail. The market opened strong with sales reaching to 850c/kg for the really neat lambs presented in excellent condition, while the secondary lambs sold to a slightly cheaper trend in places. Store buyers were again chasing numbers but had stronger competition this week from processors over the better-quality killable lambs selling to $5/head better, secondary types sold firm to $4 cheaper. Light trade sold to firm to $5 dearer, Medium and heavy trade gained $5 to $10/head. Heavy lambs 26 to 30kg gained $5 to $8 and the lambs over 30kg cwt, sold to a top of $280 selling slightly cheaper $/head, however gained in cents/kg cwt.
Lambs back to the paddock sold from $24 to $139 and lambs to feed on made from $132 to $178/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg sold from $92 to $137/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $130 to $173, lambs 22 to 26kg sold $163 to $215/head to have a wide range from 700c to 780c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $194 to $242 and over 30kg sold from $229 to $280/head with an average range of 750c to 785c/kg cwt. Hoggets made from $85 to $189 for the crossbreds and $28 to $134/head for Merino’s. Merino Lambs sold from $12 to $140/head.

Mutton numbers decreased to 9,370. Quality varied throughout the yarding. Merino wethers sold from $39 to $82 for the light weights and $70 to $129 for the medium and heavy weights, slipping $4 to $8/head. Merino Ewes made from $12 to $88 for the lighter weights and $75 to $120/head for the heavy weights, selling to $5/head softer. Heavy crossbred mutton made from $73 to $115, and the light weights made from $22 to $98, selling to $15 cheaper.
