Yarding: 19,921
Lamb numbers increased to 12,946 lambs, again the quality varied across the yarding. Limited numbers of well finished lambs in the trade and export categories with light weight plainer lambs in rough skins making up over half the yarding. Most of the usual buyers were present, not all were fully active and very little store presences. Competition was again strong over the really neat well finished lambs off supplementary feed but lacked some of last week’s intensity, while over the lighter and plainer lamb’s prices again bounced around. Light trade and store lambs sold firm to $8 better, medium trade slipped $5 and heavy trade gained $5/head. Heavy export lambs over 26kg sold to a top of $320 to be $4 to $8 softer on last week’s levels.
Store buyers paid $79 to $124/head for lambs to feed on. Light trade lambs under 18kg sold from $59 to $153/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $137 to $199, lambs 22 to 26kg sold $189 to $252/head to have a wide range from 730c to 880c, with sales again reaching 960c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $237 to $265 and over 30kg sold from $287 to $320/head with an average range of 830c to 870c/kg cwt. Merino lambs made from $40 to $154/head. Hoggets sold from $67 to $165 for the crossbreds and $33 to $106 for the Merino’s.
