Agents drew 4,672 lambs in a much smaller yarding than last sale with limited numbers across all categories. The quality was mixed, ranging from plain to very good. Not all of the usual buying group attended with one interstate exporter and a few local processors absent in a very strong market that saw price increases of up to $30/head in places to regain last week’s cheaper prices.

Very light 1 and 2 score lambs under 18kg cwt to the processor to suit MK orders, sold from $126 to $184, to gain $15/head. Lambs to the trade weighing 18 to 22kg, sold from $188 to $239, while the 22 to 24kg category made from $203 to $258, to be $15 to $30/head dearer with an average range of 930c to 1,010c/kg cwt. Lambs weighing 24 to 26kg sold from $238 to $272, up $10 to $20/head to average 990c/kg cwt.

Export 4 score, 26 to 30kg lambs sold from $260 to $285, gaining $10 to $15/head and averaging 970c to 990c/kg cwt. Those over 30kg sold from $311 to $340/head, to average 902c/kg cwt. Merino lambs were in limited numbers and sold from $123 to $190 for the lighter weights and to a top of $248/head for the heavier weights. Lambs back to the paddock sold from $92 to $197 to be $10/head stronger.

Sheep numbers also decreased to 2,835 in a plain to good quality yarding. Buyers were active and demand was stronger than previous weeks in a dearer market to be $5 to $15/head up on last week. Heavy Merino wethers made from $208 to $225/head with an average range of 690c to 750c/kg cwt. The lighter weights sold from $128 to $195/head. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $180 to $220 to average 690c to 720c, while heavy crossbred mutton made from $180 to $240/head averaging 640c to 680c/kg cwt
