Ahhhh, Swan Hill - I am up at an Australian Property Institute conference at Swan Hill. I love coming up to the river country, as we lived at Yarrawongo for 10 years post-farm and loved it. We loved the climate, especially in the Summer.

The River places from, say, Yarrawonga downstream have a climate and feel about it that's quite unique, especially the nights. At Thursday night's dinner, David McKenzie, from Opteon, a Property Valuing organisation, spoke about the impact on places like Swan Hill, on the back of the Government's latest Murray Darling decision.

Swan Hill is a proud and diverse Farming area, and the picture David painted for Swan Hill and other Irrigation towns/areas wasn't pretty.

Predicting how it will turn out is the unknown, and whatever happens, it will be incremental. What we do know is that if Farming activity drops off, that gets filtered down through the whole community. I know not everyone agrees with me calling these things anti-Farming sentiments, but I believe that anything that gets in the road of our right to Farm is anti-Farming to me.
