Bendigo Sheep & Lambs - New season young lambs are dominating the market

LAMBS
Numbers increased as the supply area heads into spring with limited rainfall. An extra 10,000 lambs and sheep were yarded compared to a week ago. Demand for lamb remained very strong . New season young lambs are now dominating the market but buyers still after fresher types. Trend for the market was firm to $5 Dearer.
OLD LAMBS
Heavy lambs-$230-$279, $8.20-$8.40c/kg firm to $5 Dearer
Heavy Trade Lambs-$235-$240, $8.50c/kg-$8.70c/kg $5-$8 dearer
Trade lambs $190-$235, $8.70c/kg-$8.90c/kg $5-$8 dearer
SUCKER LAMBS
Heavy lambs $229-$268, $8.80c/kg-$9.00c/kg $5-$8 dearer on fresher types
Trade lambs $175-$222, $9.00c/kg- $9.20c/kg firm to slightly dearer.
Merino lambs- $80-$180, $6.80c/kg-$7.100c/kg quality was mixed better lambs selling $10 dearer
SHEEP
Bigger numbers of recently shorn ewes and wethers were yarded. Demand for good mutton was very strong and prices for the main lines of heavy and trade weight crossbreds and Merinos lifted by $8 to $17/head.
Crossbred Ewes $115 -$185, $10-$12 dearer
Merino Wethers $100-$150, $5-$8 dearer
Merino Ewes $100-$186, $10 dearer
Lighter end sheep $85-$107, $10-$15 dearer
