Better Lambs dearer, plainer Lambs cheaper at Ballarat

Sheep - 5,422 (-964).

Lamb supply was at 4,394 head, to be back on last weeks numbers, still seeing the end of last season's lambs. The usual buying group attended and operated in a mixed market, with the better quality old lambs selling to $232 to be up on last week of an average around $5 to$10 in places and the plainer types to be around $2 to $10/head cheaper in places on last weeks levels.

Light weight 2 score lambs, 12kg to 18kg, sold from $86 to $140/head. Light trade 2 and 3 score lambs, 18kg to 22kg, sold from $144 to$173/head to average around 745c/kg cwt. Medium trade weight 3 and 4 score lambs, 22kg to 24kg, sold from $168 to $204/head to average around 780c/kg cwt. Heavy 3 to 4 score trade weight lambs, 24kg to 26kg, sold from $195 to $214/head to average around 780c/kg cwt. Export lambs, 26kg to 30kg sold from $215 to $232/head to average 810c/kg cwt. Hoggets sold from $54 to $134/head for crossbreds and Merinos to $80/head.

Sheep supply was back this week to 5,422 head the quality was plain to good, with nice lines of heavy Merino mutton on offer. Ewes, 12kg to14kg, sold from $53 to $77, ewes 14kg to 18kg, sold from $90 to 105 and ewes 18kg to 24kg sold from $102 to $148/head to average around 540c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $138 to $146/head to average around 560c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $133 to$172/head to average around 530c/kg cwt. Merino wethers 18kg to 24kg sold from $102 to $141 and 24kg + sold from $144 to $174/head to average around 575c/kg cwt. Crossbred wethers 18kg + sold from $117 to $194/head to average around 540c/kg cwt. Rams sold from $50 to $134/head.
