For the last sale for the year, Lamb numbers remained similar to last week with 40,000 drawn for. Quality again had a wide range, with a large portion of lighter weights and plainer secondary types. There was a limited offering extra heavy lambs penned that presented in excellent condition. All the usual buying group attended in a very strong market across the yarding. Bidding was electric from the start with sales to $20/head dearer and reaching over 1000c/kg cwt frequently, however bidding bounced throughout the sale depending on quality, shape and finish. Light store and trade lambs sold to $20 dearer, medium trade $8 to $12 stronger and heavy trade gained $10/head. Extra heavy export lambs sold to a top of $341/head gaining $10/head.
Lambs back to the paddock made from $32 to $176/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $120 to 165/head, averaging 790c to 830c/kg cwt. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $158 to $230/head, 22 to 26kg sold $206 to $270/head, to average 880c to 960c/kg cwt.

Heavy export lambs over 26kg made from $270 to $341/head, to average of 970c to 1000c/kg cwt. Old crossbred lambs sold to $222/head. Merino Hoggets and old lambs sold well, selling from $48 to $150 and the crossbred hoggets made from $80 to $200/head.
Mutton numbers dropped to 13,600 penned, quality ranged from plain to very good. Not all the usual buyers were active in a market that opened strong to remained firm to $10 dearer across the yarding. Merino wethers made from $50 to $117 for the lighter weights and over 24kg sold from $112 to $144, selling firm to $5/head dearer. Light weight Merino ewes made from $38 to $125, and the heavier weights made from $115 to $133, selling firm to $8 stronger in places. Heavy crossbred mutton made from $105 to $150, selling firm and the lighter weights made from $69 to $120, gaining $10/head. Most mutton averaged from 390c to 490c/kg cwt.
