Yarding: 16,050
Lamb numbers slipped to 9,300 penned. Quality dropped away over the yarding in a typical late winter market, with clean up and the last of the draft lots penned. Limited numbers of well finished lambs were offered. A smaller field of buyers were on the rail in a market that bounced from $20 cheaper in places to $10 dearer. Lambs presented with good cover and in a short skin were in high demand, while the plainer and secondary types in rough skins sold to a cheaper trend. Light store and trade sold to $3 to $10 softer, medium trade to $20 cheaper and heavy trade sold from $4 to $11/head softer. Heavy Export lambs over 26kg sold to a top of $330 to be $10 to $16/head dearer.
Store buyers paid $5 to $70/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg sold from $72 to $142/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $122 to $197, lambs 22 to 26kg sold $188 to $228/head, the better quality lambs with good finish averaged from 820c to 880c while the secondary plainer lambs ranged from 640c to 780c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $227 to $280 and over 30kg sold from $298 to $330/head with an average range of 840c to 910c/kg cwt. Merino lambs made from $40 to $154/head. Hoggets sold from $67 to $165 for the crossbreds and $33 to $106 for the Merino’s.

Mutton numbers jumped with 6,750 penned, Merino wethers sold from $24 to $125/head selling to $15 softer. Merino Ewes made from $30 to $82, slipping $5 for the lighter weights and the heavy weights sold from $74 to $139, selling to $15/head softer. Heavy crossbred mutton made from $92 to $147, and the light weights made from $50 to $90, selling $5 to $10 cheaper.
