China's healthy appetite for Aussie Barley

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has reported a large spike in Australian Barley exports to China. A massive 3.4 million tonnes of a total 5.7 million tonnes harvested for the period between October 2016 to April 2017 was shipped to China.

This Barley was used to supply the Dairy and other Livestock sectors and also the malting and brewing industry.

China was by far the largest buyer of Australian Barley (3.4 million tonne) and for the same period, we had Japan coming in second with 715k tonne,  followed by Saudi Arabia 419k, UAE 260k, Sri Lanka 126k, Taiwan 115k, Kuwait 108k and India 81k.
