Committing to Wool socks -  We wrote a story about how we could save the Wool industry by going niche and marketing socks to the world. We think, and many agree that the industry body Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) should try something like this because the current campaigns aren't hitting the mark.

There's 30 million dollars in the marketing pot ready to go for 2025. What about getting everyone to buy at least two pairs of Wool socks? We talk about Wool being a superior product, but for some reason, that is not resonating with the consumer. But with socks, we have a distinct advantage of durability, taming smelly feet, and warmth. No one competes on all three.

Many people in and outside the Wool industry want to see more people within the industry supporting it. Many pointed out that most Merino Ram sale photos in the paper and online feature breeders NOT wearing the product they are selling or promoting. It starts with us.

I just took delivery of 8 pairs of Lindner socks, 4 pairs of Narrawa Ribbed ones for the RMs and going out, and 4 pairs of Max Plus Thick for pottering around the Farm in my work boots. My new gun sock adviser, Anita, recommended these to me. My wife Paula is going to pick hers out over the weekend.

So, I propose that we all buy at least 2 pairs of socks from either Lindners or your favourite Wool socks stockist to get the ball rolling. See me modelling my pairs at the bottom of he page. You can buy them online, and the online buying experience is wonderful, and I am wrapped with mine. Or you can visit their store in Crookwell, NSW. That way, we will be supporting all Wool Farmers in Australia. As I said, it starts with us. If you placed an order, let me know. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
