Yarding: 13,207
Lamb numbers again decreased to 8,780, quality varied throughout the yarding with limited numbers of well presented lambs with good weight cover and finish. A large portion of the lambs were plainer secondary types in rough skins. Not all the usual buyers were on the rail, but most were active. The market was very strong over the really neat well finished lambs, then bounced from softer to dearer over the lighter and plainer lambs, making it a difficult market to quote at times. Light trade and store lambs sold to $10/head back on last week, medium and heavy trade sold $5 to $14 dearer for the better quality and to $5/head softer for the plainer secondary types. Heavy export lambs over 26kg were in demand selling to a top of $332 to be $10 to $20 stronger.
Store buyers weren’t as active this week, paying $50 to $150. Light trade lambs under 18kg sold from $48 to $141/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $130 to $195, lambs 22 to 26kg sold $188 to $236/head to have a wide range from 750c to 880c, with sales reaching mid to high 900c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $237 to $280 and over 30kg sold from $279 to $332/head with an average range of 870c to 930c/kg cwt. Merino lambs made from $34 to $145/head. Hoggets sold from $117 to $184 for the crossbreds and $106 to $124 for the Merino’s.

Heavy crossbred mutton made from $101 to $140, and the light weights made from $64 to $100, selling firm to $5 stronger.
