Lamb numbers remained similar with 6031, including 1000 new season lambs penned. Quality was mostly secondary plainer types lacking finish, with limited numbers of well finished lambs offered. Not all the usual buyers were present, and not all were fully active. the market opened softer and remained dull throughout the sale. Most categories slipped $10 to $20/head across the yarding.

New season lambs sold from $55 to $146/head for lambs to the trade under 20kg and 22 to 26kg sold from $164 to $194/head to average 730c to 780c/kg cwt. Store buyers weren’t as active this week paying $55 to $171/head. Older lambs sold from $55 to $138/head to feeders and restockers.

Light trade lambs under 18kg sold from $46 to $120/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $115 to $160, lambs 22 to 26kg sold $145 to $190/head, with a wide range from 500 to 720c/kg. Heavy export lambs over 26kg made from $184 to $232/head to average 680c to 730c/kg cwt. Merino lambs made from $28 to $150/head. Hoggets sold from $82 to $149 for the crossbreds and $40 to $70/head for the Merino’s.

Mutton numbers increased with 7,485 penned. Limited Merino wethers were offered, selling from $50 to $80/head. Light weight Merino Ewes made from $13 to $74 and the heavier weights made from $52 to $90/head, to average 250c to 290c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred mutton made from $62 to $94 with one pen selling to $132/head, averaging 220c to 270c/kg cwt.
