I was recently asked by a customer to compare the utilisation of Phosphorus between Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and Guano Granules.
As most people are aware Single Super provides phosphorus, sulphur and calcium for improving pasture, hay and livestock profitability and is known as one of the cheapest forms of Phosphate. But with Single Super, the amount of phosphorus retained in the ground after 3 months is only 20%. The Analysis of Single Super is approx. 8% Phosphorus, 11% Sulphur and 19% Calcium. The current market price on Single Super ex Port is $430.00 per tonne.
Guano Granules contains a natural 11.5% Phosphorus, 29% Calcium, 9% Silicon and provides nutrient density to plants that is highly plant-available ensuring, plant growth and productivity results. High in phosphorus with calcium, silica and boron as well as many other trace minerals. The approx retention of phosphorus after 3 months of application is 98%. The current price on Guano Granules is $1077.60 per tonne.
To compare the cost of utilisation of phosphorus between these 2 products our supplier has provided us with a calculator diagram. Please see the image.
