Formerly AgworldMany of you would know Agworld, the Cropping software management system. Some of you would have used it and probably still do. For me, this Aussie invention was the first real successful Ag Tech product we produced.

They sort of came into existence (in 2010) when the word Ag Tech was introduced. The brains behind it all was Doug Fitch, a Farmer from WA who put together an invaluable tool for Croppers in Australia and eventually all over the world. Doug, like many Ag entrepreneurs, flies under the radar as far as the acknowledgment they receive for what they invented.

Agworld sold to Canadian company Semios in 2021 for a reported $100 million. This in itself is a wonderful achievement. Semios runs something similar in the Horticulture industry; they managed to combine the two platforms and merge the best of both worlds, you could say.

In the last day or so, Agworld and Semios changed the platform name to Almanac, a new chapter. For those of you who use Agworld (now Almanac), here are a couple of questions. Has it changed since Semios took over? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
