Good competition on both Sheep and Lambs at Ballarat

Yarding - 32,400 (-100).
Lambs - 21,400 (-3100).
Sheep - 11,000 (+3000).
Agents yarded 21,400 lambs. The quality was plain to very good. All the usual buying group were in attendance with good competition on all trade weights, light lambs to fill store and MK orders. Not as much weight on offer this week for lambs over 30kg cwt to sell to $292/head.
Agents reported light lambs back to the paddock and MK orders sold extremely well to be firm to slightly dearer. Light trade weights, 18 to 22kg, cwt sold firm to $5/head dearer. Lambs, 22 to 24kg, cwt sold firm to $6/head dearer. The neat well-presented short skinned trade lambs averaged from 850c to 880c/kg cwt. Heavy trade Lambs, 24 to 26kg cwt, sold firm to $5/head dearer. Heavy lambs, 26 to 30kg cwt, sold $5 to $8/head dearer and extra heavy export lambs over 30kg cwt sold firm.
Sheep yarding of 11,000. The quality was average to very good. Agents reported the market fully firm and to see one pen of extra heavy crossbred wethers to sell to $300/head. Merino wethers sold from $65 to $265 and Merino ewes sold $60 to $288/head. Crossbred wethers sold from $166 to $300 and crossbred ewes sold to $293/head.
