Yarding: 62,279
Lamb numbers jumped again this week to 43,589 penned. The quality was patchy with the heavy and extra heavy lambs presenting in excellent condition with limited numbers yarded. Quality dropped away over the trade weights and store lambs with a range from plain to very good. Most of the usual buying group attended with a few extra’s present. Store buyers were active early in the sale but dropped off as the sale progressed. The market opened softer to then gain some momentum over the store and lighter trades to become subdued again, to end with a mostly softer market. However, the extra heavy lambs were in demand with limited numbers offered to sell dearer.
Light store and trades weights sold to $14 softer and more in places. Medium and heavy trade sold $5 to $10 cheaper, all though lambs with good weight cover and freshness in the skins sold firm. Heavy export lambs sold to $286 selling to $8/head dearer. Lamb back to the paddock made from $35 to $146 and $141 to $186/head for lambs to feed on. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $64 to $144/head.
