Agents penned 14,974 lambs and the quality ranged from plain to very good. Bidding was strong again this week, and all the usual buying group attended, which saw price increases overall categories. Finished heavy trade lambs off feed presenting with shorter skins and good fat cover sold to $20/head dearer in places. Overall, the market ended $5 to $12/head dearer.
Light trade lambs sold to $10 better, while medium trade was $5 to $10 dearer and heavy trade sold to $9/head stronger. Heavy and extra heavy export lambs sold extremely well to be $12 dearer, selling to a top of $312/head. Store buyers were present with some more active than others. Very light lambs back to the paddock sold mostly firm to a few dollars dearer. Lambs under 18kg sold from $82 to $180 and those over 18kg made from $172 to $192/head. Very light score 1 and 2 lambs to the processor to suit MK orders sold from $110 to $174, to be $7/head better. Lambs to the trade weighing 18 to 22kg sold from $174 to $223, while the 22 to 24kg range made from $208 to$258/head averaging from 915c to 935c/kg cwt.
Lambs weighing 24 to 26kg selling from $213 to $261/head, to average 940c to 960c/kg cwt. Export score 4 lambs sold from $246 to $294and those over 30kg sold to $312/head, to average 830c to 915c/kg cwt. Merino lambs sold from $83 to $168 for lightweights and sold to atop of $214/head for those weighing over 18kg cwt.
Sheep numbers decreased to 3,987 in a yarding where the quality was plain to good. Most of the processors were present but not all active in another strong market where heavy sheep sold $10 dearer and light weights sold firm to $10/head dearer in places. Heavy Merino wethers made from $181 to $197, while the lighter weights sold from $107 to $143/head. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $184 to $255 to average between 720c to 740c and extra heavy crossbred ewes sold to $250/head averaging 650c to 700c/kg cwt. Rams sold to $100 for crossbreds and Merinos made to $132/head.
