Yarding: 61,692
Another big yarding at Ballarat with 43,119 lambs penned. Quality slipped over the yarding, a large portion were dry in the skins and lacked shape and finish. Limited numbers of heavy trade and export lambs were on offer. All the usual buyers were on the rail with extra competition in a that market open firm to slightly softer to soon gain momentum to become very strong over all categories. Light store and trade sold to $15 dearer, medium and heavy trade sold from $12 to $20/head stronger. Heavy exports over 26kg cwt were in limited supply selling to $297 to be $10 to $15/head better to a week ago.
However, in places throughout the yarding there were sales to $30/head dearer and reaching the high 900c/kg cwt. Lambs back to the paddock made from $20 to $150. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $84 to $160/head, to average 670c to 780c/kg cwt. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $151 to $212/head, 22 to 26kg sold $195 to $253/head, with a wide average range of 835c to 900c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs over 26kg made from $257 to $297/head, to average of 910c to 940c/kg cwt. Old lambs sold from $107 to $128 for the light weights and $144 to $206/head for the heavier weights.

Merino lambs made from $37 to $149/head. Crossbred Hoggets made from $140 to $200 and Merino’s from $68 to $96/head.
Mutton numbers remained similar with 18,573 penned, the market opened with strong bidding intensity to end $10 to $18/head dearer to a week ago. Merino wethers made for $68 to $145 selling $17/head dearer, to average 400c to 460c/kg cwt. Light weight Merino ewes made from $46 to $112, and the heavier weights made from $91 to $138 selling to $14/head stronger.
