There are now just five zones across the country, with maximum vehicle and machinery dimensions defined for each zone. You will be covered by the notice if your vehicle & combinations are within the dimensions specified for each zone.

You can check which zone you are in and see the associated dimensions by clicking on the network map.

An operator’s guide is available here and is worth a read to make sure you comply with all the conditions.

If your vehicle/combination is above the zone dimension limits, you need to apply for a permit. The permit process has also been improved and is now managed by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) through a single portal. Click here to apply for a permit

Industry has worked closely with the NHVR to harmonise road access arrangements into a single Class 1 notice for some time and GrainGrowers welcomes and supports this notice. The GrainGrowers’ National Policy Group provided feedback over two years on dimensions and zone boundaries , and is pleased that the notice is in place now with 2019 winter crop planting getting underway.
