Price dip for both Lambs and Sheep at Ballarat

Yarding - 53,175 (+6853).
Lambs - 41,740 (+3431).
Sheep - 11,435 (-10,284).
The last weekly market for 2019, lamb numbers increased to 41,740 yarded. The quality was very good with plenty of weight on offer across the yarding. All the usual buying group attended but not all operated fully in an easier market to be $5 to $10/head back on last week, with most lambs showing dryness in the skins. Heavy lambs sold to $241/head. Shorn lambs 22 to 30kg and over made from $160 to $233/head.
Light weight 2 score lambs, 12 to 18kg, sold from $92 to $138/head to average 700c/kg cwt. Light trade 2 and 3 score lambs, 18 to 22kg,sold from $126 to $166/head to average 695c/kg cwt. Lambs 22 to 24kg, sold from $151 to$178/head, selling from 639c to 733c to average695c/kg cwt. Heavy 3 to 4 score lambs, 24 to 26kg sold from $165 to $186/head to average 695c/kg cwt. Export lambs, 26 to 30kg sold from$184 to $215 to average 685c/kg cwt and extra heavy export lambs over 30kg sold from $220 to $241/head. Hogget's sold from $123 to $172for crossbred's and Merino's sold from $90 to $146/head.
11,435 sheep were yarded and the quality was average to good, not all the usual buying group attended or operated fully as processes have filled orders before the Christmas break which seen sheep prices decline from $10 to $30/head. Light weight 1 and 2 score sheep made from $45 to $112/head to average 500c/kg with Medium weight sheep sold from $89 to $140/head, making from 424c to 609c, with Merino mutton averaging around 540c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $126 to $156/head. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $112 to $165/head. HeavyMerino wethers sold from $124 to $148, medium weights sold from $89 to $130/head to average around 520c/kg cwt. Rams sold from $15 to $75/head
