Queensland on top thanks to Sugar Cane and Beef

Queensland has emerged as out top Ag earning state according to the ABS. Of the $56 billion of 15-16 Ag production, Queensland contributed $13.2 billion, NSW was next with $13.1 billion and Victoria was a close 3rd with $13 billion. The rise in values for Sugar Cane and the Beef boom were behind Queensland's success.

The value in beef rose 15 per cent from the 14-15 numbers and Sugar Cane tonnages were up by 7 per cent.

The Queensland Beef herd was sitting on 10.4 million head in 15-16 which was 47 per cent of the national herd.
