Lamb numbers increased to 27,810 yarded, quality was mixed with a range from plain to excellent. All the usual buying group attended in a market that open reasonably firm. Buyers became more selective and the prices softened, although there were dearer sales as the buyers were chasing the lighter weight categories and the really neat short skin well finished medium trade weights. Store lambs, light and medium trade sold to firm to $5/head softer. Heavy trade sold $5 to $10 cheaper and heavy export sold to a top of 234/head and selling $4 to $8 softer.

Lambs back to the paddock sold from $46 to $118 and lambs to feed on made from $120 to $135/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $75 to $118/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $115 to $139, lambs 22 to 26kg sold $130 to $166/head to have a wide range of 540c to 660c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $156 to $195 and over 30kg sold from $192 to $234/head with an average of 600c to 615c/kg cwt. Hoggets sold from $71 to $120/head for the crossbreds and Merino’s sold from $74 to $119/head.
Mutton dropped to 5,603 penned. There was more competition on the rail, but not all buyers were operating. Merino wethers sold from $44 to $80, selling $7 to $16/head dearer. Merino Ewes made from $35 to $80, gaining $5 to $10/head and the heavy Crossbred mutton made from $52 to $84, selling from $5 to $10/head stronger.
