We have a problem Houston!! And a major problem it could be!!
Over half a metre of rain (500mm+) is a possibility across the gulf coast in the US especially southern Texas over the next week as tropical storm Harvey which is likely to become a category one hurricane (possibly two) & is expected to stall over southern Texas once it crosses the coast bringing heavy rain days on end and widespread flooding.
Hurricane winds may also develop as Harvey crosses the Texas coast late Friday night early Saturday morning however the major concern is rainfall and flooding as over 500mm is expected by both the GFS and EC models over the coming week over southern Texas. Heavy rain and flooding may also impact Louisiana.
We will continue to keep an eye on this as this plays out over the coming days.
