Yarding: 55,296
Lamb numbers slipped by 10,000 this week to 31,000 penned, quality was similar to a week ago, with a limited offering of heavy lambs with good weight and finish. All the usual buying group attended in a stronger market across the yarding. Young Lambs are starting to be presented shorn and are in demand from processors and store buyers. Store lambs gained $10, light trade sold $6 to $12/head better. Medium and heavy trade sold $8 to $19 stronger. Heavy export over 26kg sold to $20 dearer, with the top sale $323/head for shorn new season lambs.
Lambs back to the paddock made from $15 to $146 and lambs to feed on sold to $153/head. Light trade lambs under 18kg to suit MK orders sold from $77 to $163/head, averaging 720c to 775c/kg cwt. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $148 to $219/head, 22 to 26kg sold $210 to $256/head, with an average range of 830c to 900c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs over 26kg made from $267 to $323/head, to average of 930c to 980c/kg cwt. Throughout the yarding in the trade and export categories there were sales that reached to over 1000c/kg cwt.

One pen of extra heavy old lambs sold to $260/head and two pens of Merino lambs & two tooth’s sold from $242 to $263/head with an estimated weight of 32 to 36kg cwt. Hoggets made from $106 to $180 and Merino’s from $58 to $138/head.
Mutton numbers jumped again to 24,208 yarded. There was extra competition on the rail with the market opening strong, however sales did bounce either side of firm depending on weights and quality. Bidding intensified over the younger Merino sheep with sale reaching over 550c/kg cwt in places. Merino wethers made from $40 to $138 for the lighter weights selling $3 to $16/head dearer and over 24kg sold from $110 to $159, gaining to $20/head. Light weight Merino ewes made from $29 to $125, and the heavier weights made from $105 to $156, in places $20/head dearer, Heavy crossbred mutton made from $93 to $146, selling firm to $10/head stronger and the lighter weights made from $40 to $110/head. Mutton had a wide average range from 360c to 540c/kg cwt.
