Lamb supply remained similar to the previous week’s numbers at 8,601 yarded. The quality was mixed, ranging from plain to very good. Most of the usual buying group attended in a market that started softer to gain momentum as the sale progressed, new season lambs selling either side of firm depending on quality offered. Old lambs are coming to the end of drafts and are limited in supply, lighter weights sold mostly softer while the heavier weights sold to a dearer tend.

New season light trade lambs sold firm, from $128 to $178 to average 950c, medium trade weights sold mostly firm to $3 dearer, from $185 to $233 to average 960c and heavy trade weights were firm to slightly softer depending on quality sold from $218 to $271/head to average 960c to 980c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs were in limited supply selling to a top of $288/head. Feeders and restockers were active on the young lambs selling from $72 to $180 under 18kg and $185 to $202/head over 18kg cwt, holding firm.

Very limited supply of last season lambs sold to $15/head dearer in places. Heavy lambs offered in short skins with good fat cover were in demand selling to $15 dearer topping at $300/head. While light weights sold cheaper.

Sheep supply increased to 6,371 yarded of mixed quality, from plain to good, the market opened stronger, overall the market was $10 to $20/head dearer across most categories. Heavy Merino wethers made from $172 to $231/head with an average range of 660c to 680c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $184 to $220 to average 640c to 660c and heavy crossbred mutton made $155 to $237/head averaging 620c to 640c/kg cwt.
