The cut-out - Gee, they were good fun. I am only saying "were" because I used to take part in the after Shearing cut-outs at our Family Farm "Glendemar". They were some great memories because Shearing time is hard work for everyone. So there is nothing better than a big debrief, a good chat, and some laughs after it's all done and dusted.

Cut-outs can come in many forms. Another prevalent one in the Farming circles is the Harvest cut out. Is there anything more satisfying in Farming than finishing Harvest? It's the culmination of 12 months of hard work, lots of worries, ups, downs, missed opportunities, luck, long hours and many other emotions. Whether it's a good or bad Harvest, it's just so satisfying to finish.

I know one Farmer in the Wimmera who always starts Harvest on a Sunday. The Crop might not be ready, but they strip a box full and then pull up and have a cut-out to celebrate the Crop before Harvest starts. It's been a family tradition for years, according to Rob. But you can have a cut-out for anything. I might even call my Friday beers tonight a cut-out, just for old-time sake.

How do you prepare for a cut-out? Simple: You need a good esky, some ice and plenty of beer. That's pretty much it. How did you run your cut-outs?
