Quiet time for Hay sales but hot weather could change that
For the fortnight up to the 2nd of January, 2019 - Volume 23.
It's been a quiet time for Hay sale over the Christmas/New Year period.
The rainfall in mid-December slowed demand and saw prices ease. Also, our Farm Tender team took some well earned time off during this period.
As for prices, Canola, Clover, Vetch, Lucerne and Pasture Hay traded slightly easier over the previous fortnight. Cereal Hay was the hardest hit, with prices getting down as low as $205/mt
Canola Hay prices are ranging from $200/mt to $260/mt depending on the test, location and bale weights.
Wheaten and Barley Hay sales range from $205/mt to $260/mt in the last fortnight.
Clover Hay has been selling in the $240/mt to 290/mt range, with Clover Hay mixes at a slightly discounted rate depending on the percentage of Clover.
Lucerne Hay has been solid at around the $400/mt mark for some time now, and there were limited sales of Vetch Hay in the last fortnight
Straw prices ranged from $110/mt up to $150/mt
