The Farm Tender Hay Report – Volume 5

Freight now an issue in the big Hay grab

·      It's getting increasingly harder to find Trucks to cart the mountains of Hay that has been booked

·      Stocks of new season shedded Vetch Hay is harder to find (we are looking for some)

·      Sales of old season Hay increased dramatically in the last two weeks

·      Buyers who procrastinate are missing out

·      Vetch Hay prices have risen $5-10 in the last two weeks

·      Cereal Hay prices have stayed about the same but demand is still there

·      It’s hard to get a handle of stocks left on-farm, but it has changed dramatically in the last eight weeks

·      Farmers have started sowing Hay crops in a cloud of dust

·      We are currently in a real drying pattern in the East of the country

·      Buyers are starting to look at cereal and even rice straw
