The Need for Feed - We all go back in history looking for any clues as to how the future might pan out. Those with little rain on the scoreboard so far this season would be asking when it last broke in July and what the outcome was.

As we get closer towards the end of the financial year with no solid break behind us, we start to ask questions and do a bit of scenario-playing. Like, if I am in Southern Victoria, with bugger all feed prospects until late September, it might be in my best interest to sell some Cows because the cost to Feed them for another 3 or 4 months might not be economically beneficial. That’s an example.

The Feed scenario right now is that there is not much Hay coming onto the market. Not much left to sell. We think we might see a bit come on after June 30, but that might be short-lived. We think the opportunity for sellers is to list their Feed Grain as an alternative. We know there is a shortage of Lupins and Beans, but Barley and Corn would suffice.

So we see an opportunity to get some buying competition on Feed Grain. Buyers will always look for loads that are close handy, so you never know where they might come from. Oh, and we have a payment system, it’s called NPS, that sends the money through us, which gives both buyer and seller insurance and assurance. There is also an attractive payment option through DelayPay. Talk to one of our staff members for more info. Do you have Feed Grain you want to sell? Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
