The trouble with science - It might be a controversial one today. I would be interested in your opinion. They say we should have trust in the science, but I don't always agree. Don't get me wrong, science has uncovered some wonderful things, and without it we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are today.

Science, to me, is like an opinion, and the cartoon at the bottom of the page is an example of what I am talking about. Take the science of weight loss; I know it's a human discipline thing, but there have been enough scientific papers to fill the MCG, but as a society, we keep getting fatter. How does that work?

Science can be biased in the hands of someone who has something to gain, and that can be dangerous. The science of processed food has been one where many food companies have made a lot of money from things that aren't necessarily good for us. It's the science that has been manipulated.

Climate change is another one; people get locked into a particular piece of science they want to believe and run with it, then expect others to think the same. Some science is saying it is happening, and other science says it is all baloney. Who do you believe? That's why I say it's like an opinion; we can't believe science all the time just because it's science. For me, the proof is in the pudding, not the trust is in the science.
